Antofagasta de la Aventura Finale

Bonjour!
finally, I am away from Chile!
and currently just touched down Paris about an hour ago...
and as usual, there is always something happened to my departure flight...
back in Kuwait, air craft was delayed but fortunately the connecting flight is from the same airline...
in Saudi, I was not able to claim my baggage...
in UAE, air craft was ready to go at runway only returned back to the depot area for inspection...
and this time, air craft problem again!
was so worried that I missed the connection!
moreover, flight attendant only know Spanish and I had a hard time explaining my situation...
fortunately, they got a ground staff to translate it!
anyhow it managed to take off after an hour and I rush like crazy fella in Santiago...
once check in, board directly! :D
but anyhow, I will have a 9 hours lapse over here...
basically, the last few days were so busy and tired!
anyway, I am glad that I was able to finish STG Crane and EOT Crane 1 before the end of this season, which is the minimum expectation of end user...
and therefore, managed to get only a 2nd day off and I stroll around the city of Mejilonnes...
and this is where I stayed throughout this 3 weeks...
and this is the small town of Mejilonnes...
there isn't a lot of people around...
as majority of the people working here are construction worker, thus they had return to their home for vacation...
and this is the football stadium...
seriously, I wandered about 1 hour but couldn't find a restaurant...
luckily I remember there is a hotel, which served as my landmark because of its height...
I managed to find my way to the main street...
but here is the menu... =.=
 in Spanish!
well, so I ordered a Churrasco Americano and Cafe...
and inside, we have egg, ham and I think beef as well... :D
and everything for 4100 Chilean pesos...
continue to stroll along the main street...
and also, to the nearby beach...
the sea water is clear but I don't like the sand...
about 15 minutes of sea breeze, off I went to the main street again...
there are some minor decorations over here...
maybe there is minor celebration but unfortunately, my flight is on the Christmas eve...
as on my way back, finally I managed to see the descriptions of this sign...
it is the evacuation route if there's a tsunami...
and I was so lucky!
while on my way back, for your information, from Posco camp to Mejilonnes town takes 30-40 minutes walk excluding selfie time...
so a Korean stop by and ask if I am back in Spanish so of course I don't understand...
and fortunately there's a Chilean translated it and thus, from a 30 minutes walk, it turned to be a 2 minutes drive... :D
as for the night, we had a BBQ dinner!
I guess it served as the year end party for everyone...
as usual, beer, meet, wine, etc.!
and that marked the end of my Chile trip...

Antofagasta de la Aventura Ep 10

Saturday, a first rest day here!
but it's not really a total rest day...
as I was required to spend an hour of providing training...
and after that, visit of Antofagasta town!
we began with La Portada...
sea breeze of the pacific ocean..
finally, I can proudly say...
I am in Chile!
and straight to the mall after that as there's isn't much place of interest over Antofagasta...
of course, a proper meal is a must!
lime margarita as the beverage...
onion ring as the appetizer...
baby ribs as main course!
upon lunch and minor shopping for snack...
and all the way back to Mejillones...
did not have dinner for the day...
just a coffee and sea view...
 that marks my rest day...

Antofagasta de la Aventura Ep 9

finally, STG is completed!
and these two days are so eventful!
Friday is the day for load test...
however was asked to commission overhead crane for BFP...
as for lunch, this!
bibimbap again!
and after that, load test!
passed!
as for the night, there's an event held in Antofagasta...
something like a year-end dinner...
well, for your information, the town that I am staying in is called as Mejillones...
and it's 1 hour away from Antofagasta town...
and this is the venue of the event...
I can't remember the name but this hotel is nice!
I believe this is a high class hotel judging from its design...
and this is the dinner hall...
non-different that those in Malaysia...
as from the balcony...
day view...
night view...
as for the view, it's a 3 course...

appetizer...
main course...
dessert...
but the highlight of tonight is red wine...
Chile is known of its red wine...
to be frank, I don't fancy red wine but I give it a like this time... :)
cheers!
as for Friday, it's just clearing the punch-list of STG...
the highlight of the day is the dinner!
Korean BBQ!
and this time, I am not alone...
but with Posco mechanical team!
and that's not the end...
we had a 2nd round in one of their rooms...
according to them, this can only be found in Latin-America country...
well, it's nice to drink it with Cola...
but venue is switched to the singing room because his neighbor is sick so there's a need of rest...
and there's where all the fun begin!
drink and sing!
stress is released!
maybe is because of the gantry crane is done!
guess it's time to say good night for now...
as I am tired because I had a short trip to Antofagasta town again since today I am not required to work...
however, I will be working on tomorrow...
so let's hope the good thing continues!

Antofagasta de la Aventura Ep 8

finally, we passed the function test!
for the past few days, sleepless and stress!
and by why it is able to function totally rather than having the problem of previous days...
it is due to incompetency!
basically, language was the main problem but somehow, there's also another element...
uneducated...
well, I am not saying about whether are or aren't them are degree holder...
I am just saying they have no knowledge on cranes...
therefore I had been climbing up and down for uncountable times!
besides, had been spending days outdoor...
and of course with sunblock applied as well...
but I don't know why am I this dark?
but I am very relieved that finally it is running...
just that another pending issue is that the limitation of hoisting...
one final task to go for this gantry crane!
and of course, Wednesday, hot pot night!
well, the main focus is not the hot pot but the below...
bottomless soju!
basically, it's kind of stress drinking with the Koreans...
they have law on drinking soju...
one should not pour into your cup yourself...
it's shows that your dinner partner is impolite...
and also, do not let the cup of your partner stay empty...
you cannot drink alone if there's a dinner partner...
when pouring, if you are older, one hand...
in contrast if you are younger, two hands...
as for the cup being poured, if you are older, one hand and of course two hands if you are younger...
well. just a comment from me...
喝酒都酱麻烦... =.=
as for today today, we will be having the load test...
so all the best today for today!
buena suerte!

Antofagasta de la Aventura Ep 7

after 3 days, it's about 80% completed...
it should have been completed yesterday but there's strong wind on 2nd part of my work so we are required to return to ground level...
but I believe by today I can finish commissioned fully my 1st gantry crane abroad...
and for 2 days consecutively, it's a morning post as I am too tired...
maybe a short one today...
of course, mandatory, 3 meals...
breakfast...
lunch...
dinner...
but I followed Mr. Choi back to the camp instead of going with the shuttle bus...
as I need to get the lotion for my skin...
another Korean followed us as he can speak Spanish very well...
and we had a local snack before heading back...
the named it as Espanda...
the is the inner part...
basically I don't know what the inner part is...
finally, manage to capture the main street of this small town...
nothing difference from a typical Malaysian town...
anyway, it's time to work...
I am looking forward for a great day ahead!
